도교육청은 초등학교 저학년 시기부터 학습 부진 요인을 정확히 파악하고, 개별 학생의 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 처방을 제공해 학습 결손을 선제적으로 예방한다는 방침이다.

먼저, 인지 능력과 사회성 발달이 다소 늦은 경계선 지능 학생들을 위해 ‘진단·지원 통합 운영 체계’를 연중 가동한다. 담임교사와 학부모가 선별 체크리스트를 통해 1차 진단을 실시하면, 학습종합클리닉센터와 연계한 심층 검사를 통해 학생의 인지 특성을 정밀하게 분석한다.

특히 도내 16개교에는 20명의 전담 지원 교사를 배치해 ▲1:1 풀아웃(Pull-out, 별도 교실 수업) ▲교실 내 협력 수업 등 밀착형 개별화 학습을 지원한다. 지원 교사가 배치되지 않은 학교에 대해서도 학습종합클리닉센터의 전문 코치진이 직접 학교를 방문해 1:1 맞춤형 코칭을 진행한다.
