전남교육청은 지난 26일 담양 창평초등학교를 방문해 학교 현장의 목소리를 듣고, 지역사회와 연계한 교육 활성화 및 소규모 학교의 강점을 극대화하는 맞춤형 지원 방안을 모색했다.

1906년 개교해 120년 가까운 역사를 자랑하는 창평초등학교는 최근 지역의 정체성을 담은 ‘창평 의(義) 교육’으로 주목받고 있다. 이 프로그램은 학년별 수준에 맞춰 체계적으로 구성된 것이 특징이다.

저학년의 환경 그림책 만들기를 비롯해 문화유산 체험 및 설화 그림책 제작(4학년), 의병 활동 역사 조사(5학년), 지역 산업 분석 및 미래 산업 제안(6학년) 등 지역 정체성을 확립하는 체계적인 배움 활동이 돋보인다.
