김영록 지사는 우선 추진할 지역 핵심 현안으로 ▲전라남도 국립의과 대학 설립 ▲글로벌 해상풍력 산업 생태계 조성을 힘주어 건의했다.

 

의과대학 설립과 관련 “현 정부의 ‘의대 정원 증원 방식’과 최근 논의 중인 ‘국립대 병원 분원 설치 방식’은 의대가 없는 전남의 의료격차를 더욱 심화시키고 지역 공공의료 컨트롤타워로서 역할도 하지 못한다”며 “의대 설립만이 유일한 해결책으로, 지역 의사제를 도입해 지역 출신 인재를 선발하고 섬 등 의료 취약지역에서 근무하도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
