보고회에선 국내외 레이저 산업 분석을 바탕으로 국내 레이저 산업을 발전시키기 위한 다양한 의견이 제시됐다. 전남도 핵심사업인 ‘초강력 레이저 연구시설’과 연계 방안에 대해서도 심도있는 논의가 이뤄졌다.

특히 국내 최초 레이저산업 클러스터 중심으로 에너지 신기술, 우주 및 국가 안보 대응, 레이저 부품·장비 시험인증, 기업 지원 등 관련시설을 구축해 첨단산업의 핵심 거점으로 성장하는 전략을 제시했다. 리투아니아의 경우 과학·연구·산업 통합단지(Sunrise Valley)를 중심으로 레이저 산업을 육성, 전 세계 80여 국에 레이저 관련 기술을 수출하고 있다.

전남도는 용역 결과를 바탕으로 자체적인 종합계획을 수립하고, 각종 국가사업과 레이저 관련 기업을 유치할 계획이다. 초강력 레이저 국가계획 반영 등 각종 첨단 연구 기반시설 구축 노력도 함께 추진할 방침이다.

전남도는 그동안 국가대형연구시설인 초강력 레이저 유치와 레이저산업 생태계 조성을 위해 전국 최초로 조례를 제정하고, 정부사업 건의, 전문가 토론회 개최 등 지속적인 노력을 기울였다.
