죽설헌은 나주 출신 박태후 동양화가가 지난 50년간 가꾼 개인 정원이다. 인공적 요소를 최소화하고 자연의 섭리에 따라 조성했다. 나주 금천면 촌곡리 3만 2천325㎡ 규모의 구릉지에 자리하고 있으며, 박 화백이 호남원예고등학교 재학 시절부터 직접 씨를 뿌리며 혼자 일궈냈다.
