(담양=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남 담양의 지역 특산물인 대나무를 소재로 개최되는 담양 대나무 축제가 문화체육관광부 ‘명예 문화관광축제’로 선정돼 명실상부한 대한민국 대표 축제로서의 위상을 드높였다.

명예 문화관광축제는 문화체육관광부가 10년 이상 진행된 전국 우수 축제 중 20개를 엄선해 축제 경쟁력 강화를 통한 지속 가능한 글로벌 축제로 육성·발전시키기 위해 지정한다.

이번 ‘명예 문화관광축제’ 선정으로 대나무축제는 △축제 평가 및 빅데이터 분석 △축제 아카데미와 컨퍼런스 △국내·외 홍보 △축제 컨설팅 및 전문 인력 양성 등 주요 지원사업에서 우선 신청 자격을 확보하게 됐다.

올해 진행하는 제23회 담양 대나무 축제는 기존 군민의 날 행사와 분리해 오는 5월 11일부터 5월 15일까지 5일간 ‘대숲처럼, 초록처럼’을 구호로 죽녹원과 종합체육관 일원에서 개최된다.

축제 기간 최초로 죽녹원을 밤 9시까지 야간 개장하고 입장권은 지역에서 사용할 수 있는 상품권으로 환급해 지역 경제 활성화를 유도한다.
