강 시장은 10일 오후 국가인공지능(AI)데이터센터를 방문, 지난 11월 본격 서비스를 시작한 시설과 올해 준공 예정인 실증·창업동 공사 현장을 둘러봤다.

이날 정책소풍은 인공지능(AI) 집적단지 1단계 조성사업 성공적 마무리를 위한 보완사항과 활성화 방안, 2단계 실증도시 구현 방안 등을 인공지능산업융합사업단, 엔에이치엔(NHN)과 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.

김준하 인공지능산업융합사업단 단장은 “인공지능 집적단지 1단계 핵심 인프라인 국가 인공지능 데이터센터 서비스 개시로 1000여개의 AI 기업지원 준비를 마쳤고 올해 말에 실증·창업동, 초대형 드라이빙 시뮬레이터 등 1단계 조성 사업 준공을 성공적 마무리하기 위해 힘쓰고 있다”며 “왜 광주만 인공지능(AI)을 하느냐며 다른 지역에서 욕심을 내고 있다. 2단계는 전국 인공지능 기업들이 1단계 인프라를 활용해 광주라는 공간에서 시민·기업이 체감할 수 있는 실증중심 사업으로 구성하고, 광주를 명실상부한 인공지능 중심도시로 만들 수 있는 절호의 시기다”고 밝혔다.
