강기정 광주시장은 31일 국회도서관 대강당에서 열린 ‘AI SOUL(인공지능 소울) 포럼 창립 기념식’에서 ‘광주의 내일’을 이같이 밝혔다.

강 시장은 먼저 “새로운 기술들이 야기할 개인과 사회의 변화에 대한 준비가 필요한 시기에 꼭 필요한 공론의 장을 열어줄 ‘AI SOUL(인공지능 소울) 포럼’의 창립을 축하한다”며 “광주는 상대적으로 이른 시기에 인공지능(AI) 사업에 뛰어들었고, 인공지능(AI)을 광주의 전략산업으로 삼아 적극 추진하고 있다”고 말했다.

강 시장은 특히 “얼마 전 구글의 인공지능 챗봇 ‘바드’에게 대한민국 인공지능 대표도시가 어디인지를 물었더니, ‘광주광역시’라고 대답해 화제가 되기도 했다”고 소개했다.

이는 지난 1월 세계 최대 가전‧IT 전시회인 CES에서 구글‧엔비디아 등 세계적 기업이 광주를 환대한 것도 ‘광주 인공지능(AI) 융합 생태계’의 가능성에 주목했기 때문이라고 진단했다.

이날 창립행사에 참석한 김준하 인공지능산업융합사업단장은 광주 첨단3지구에 조성 중인 인공지능 중심 산업융합집적단지 조성사업에 대해 소개한 후, 챗GPT 활용법을 시연해 큰 호응을 얻었다.
