(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 인공지능(AI) 중심도시 광주시가 전남대학교, 구글 클라우드 코리아와 함께 지역의 인공지능 융합인재 양성과 기업 혁신 성장을 지원한다.

광주시는 전남대, 구글 클라우드의 공식 교육 파트너인 ㈜아이코어이앤씨와 지난 8일 시청 비즈니스룸에서 ‘구글 클라우드 기반 인공지능(AI) 인재 양성 업무협약’을 체결했다.

이날 협약식에는 강기정 시장을 비롯해 정성택 전남대학교 총장, 강형준 구글 클라우드 코리아 대표, 김욱현 ㈜아이코어이앤씨 대표가 참석했다.

협약에 따라 이들 기관은 ▲구글 클라우드 기반 AI 인재양성 교육에 따른 상호 협력 ▲교육생의 인공지능 및 신기술·첨단분야 취·창업 지원 ▲신기술·첨단분야 인재양성을 위한 교육·연구 활동 협력 ▲기업 혁신 성장과 글로벌 시장 진출을 위한 세미나 및 포럼 운영 등을 추진한다.

이날 협약은 지난 1월 구글 클라우드와 협의한 ‘인공지능 협업모델’의 후속 조치로 추진됐다.

당시 강기정 시장과 정성택 총장 등은 미국 라스베이거스에서 열린 국제전자제품박람회(CES)에 참석한 뒤 실리콘밸리 구글 본사를 방문해 광주시와 구글의 협력방안을 논의했다. 구글 클라우드 측은 인공지능 인재양성 등 협업모델을 제안했고, 폴 윌슨(Paul Wilson) 아태일본지역 공공부문 총괄이사는 구글 코리아 캠퍼스 초청과 함께 향후 구체적인 논의를 이어가자고 약속했다.
