광주시는 구글 클라우드 코리아, 전남대와 함께 운영하는 인공지능 교육프로그램인 ‘구글 클라우드 AI 캠프 for 전남대’의 5월 개강을 앞두고 오는 28일까지 교육생을 모집한다.

이 프로젝트는 지난 1월 구글 클라우드와 협의한 ‘인공지능 협업모델’의 후속조치이자, 구글 클라우드 코리아와 함께 추진하는 첫 협력사업이다.

당시 국제전자제품박람회(CES) 참석을 위해 미국을 방문한 강 시장과 정성택 전남대 총장 등은 실리콘밸리 구글 본사를 찾아 구글 클라우드에 협력모델 개발을 제안했고, 이후 수차례 실무 논의를 거쳐 인공지능(AI) 인재양성 분야에서 첫 번째 결실을 맺게 됐다.
