전남대 오종현 학술연구교수(교육문제연구소)는 지난 2020년부터 통일부 통일교육위원을 역임하며, 4차 산업혁명의 도래에 따른 가상현실 기술 활용 통일교육방법론을 연구하고, 어플리케이션 개발, 통일관련 교양강좌 및 특강 등 통일교육 활성화를 위한 다양한 프로그램을 개발하고 운영하는데 헌신해왔다.
