(브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 광양만권경제자유구역청(이하 광양경제청)은 지난 23일 여수 베네치아 호텔에서 ‘2022년 광양경제청 화학분야 투자유치 자문위원 회의’를 개최했다.

광양경제청 화학분야 투자유치 자문위원단은 화학기업 대표, 임직원, 화학공학부 교수, 연구원, 컨설턴트, 경영전문가 등 다양한 전문가 11인으로 이루어져 있으며 임기는 2년(21.12.15.~23.12.14.)이다.

이번 회의에서 자문 위원들은 광양만권 전략산업으로 기능성 화학산업을 적극 육성해야 한다고 한목소리로 전했다.

광양만권은 인근에 여수 석유화학 국가산업단지가 있어 기능성 화학산업 클러스터를 조성하기에 최적의 입지 조건을 갖추고 있다.

또 한국화학융합시험연구원(KTR)을 보유하고 있어 기업들이 연구 장비나 시설 등을 활용할 수 있고 소재개발과 시험인증 등이 용이하다.

특히 플라스틱 재활용 및 바이오·생분해성 플라스틱 산업은 환경친화적인 미래 먹거리 산업이며 광양만권의 지속가능한 성장을 위하여 관련 기업들의 투자를 적극적으로 유치하는 것이 바람직하다고 조언했다.

송상락 광양경제청장은 “세계적으로 산업 패러다임이 저탄소, 친환경으로 바뀌어 가고 있는 만큼 장기적인 안목을 가지고 광양만권이 기능성 화학소재산업의 중심지가 될 수 있도록 지속적인 투자유치 노력을 기울여 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
