(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Haksu Lee = Gwangju City will extend support until December to expand incentives to attract domestic tourists, which had been temporarily operated until October to vitalize the stagnant local tourism industry.

Earlier in May, Gwangju City temporarily increased the amount of support and added support items to expand tourist attraction incentives, but due to the continued Corona 19, it was difficult for travel agencies to attract tourists.

Accordingly, from October, in order to prepare an opportunity to promote domestic travel in the face of the transition to the first stage of social distancing and the peak season in autumn, support for expanding incentives has been extended until December.

In terms of incentives, transportation expenses, accommodation expenses, food expenses, school trip expenses, promotional expenses, and early travel discount products are supported.

Transportation expenses are paid up to KRW 500,000 to 1.2 million when attracting tourists using the bus with 20 or more passengers, and KRW 20,000 to 30,000 KRW per person when attracting tourists using trains or flights of four or more.

In the case of stay, 10,000 won per person and about 10% of meals per person are paid in proportion to the amount paid.

Along with this, a maximum of 500,000 won is provided to travel companies that develop Gwangju tour products, three times per company, and to travel companies that host school trips, 5,000 won per person for no-parking and 8,000 won for accommodation.

In addition, Gwangju tourism products selected for the early travel reservation discount product support project organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Travel Industry Association, will support 10% of the project cost.

The exact details of application and application procedures can be found in the city's website announcement and announcement.

Kim Jun-young, head of the Gwangju City Culture and Tourism Sports Department, said, ¡°I hope that the support for expanding incentives for domestic tourists will help the Gwangju travel market recover early.¡± We will continue to support so that we can compete.¡±
