(신안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 섬에서 처음 개최되는 ‘대한민국 문화의 달’ 행사 개막을 한 달도 채 남겨두지 않으면서 축제의 주 무대 전남 신안 자은도에 관한 관심도 커지고 있다.

신안군의 예술 섬 프로젝트 추진으로 ‘피아노의 섬’이란 별칭을 얻은 자은도에서는 10월 20일부터 사흘간 작곡가 겸 피아니스트 임동창 예술감독의 지휘 아래 대한민국 문화의 달 행사가 열린다.

정부가 1972년 매년 10월을 문화의 달로 지정한 이래 51년 만에 처음으로 육지를 벗어나 섬에서 개최되는 행사다.

우리나라에서 열두 번째 큰 섬이자 ‘피아노 섬’으로 불리는 신안 자은도가 주목받는 이유다.

문화체육관광부와 신안군이 공동 주최하는 2023 문화의 달 행사는 ‘섬, 대한민국 문화 다양성의 보고 - 1004섬 예술로 날다’를 주제로 열린다.

주 무대는 자은도 뮤지엄파크 일원이다.

‘문화’(文化)는 사회 공동체가 나누는 생각과 행동, 사물을 포함한 총체라고 말한다. 이러한 문화가 ‘자애롭고 은혜로운’이란 뜻의 자은(慈恩)과 어울리는 것은 어쩌면 당연한 일이다. 너른 마음이 없이는 그 어떤 것도 나누기 힘들다.

자은도와 안좌도의 갈림길인 암태도 기동삼거리의 동백 파마머리 벽화는 신안의 명소로 떠올랐다. 안좌도 남쪽에 있는 외딴 형제섬 반월‧박지도는 ‘퍼플섬’으로 더 유명하다. 두 해 전 유엔 세계관광기구(UNWTO)로부터 ‘세계 최우수 관광마을(Best Tourism Village)’로 선정됐다.

섬과 섬 사이 위치한 자은도는 ‘피아노의 섬’으로 탈바꿈하고 있다.

모래가 파도와 바람에 밀려와 사구를 이룬 자은도는 길고 넓은 백사장이 유난히 많다. 신안군은 이런 아름다운 경관과 피아노 선율을 잇는 프로젝트를 추진하고 있다.

프랑스 북부의 작은 도시 르 투케 파리 플라주의 피아노 축제 ‘레 피아노 플리에(Les Pianos Folies)’를 벤치마킹했다. 1도 1뮤지엄, 1섬 1테마정원에 이은 신안군 예술 섬 사업의 일환이다.

그 중심에는 문화의 달 행사의 주 무대인 자은도 백산리 1004뮤지엄파크가 있다. 이곳은 1004섬 수석미술관과 수석정원, 세계조개박물관, 새우란전시관, 바다휴양숲공원, 캠핑장, 백산사구를 품고 있는 문화예술 공간이다.

‘피아노의 섬’ 프로젝트를 맡고 있는 작곡가 겸 피아니스트 임동창 총감독은 문화의 달 행사 첫째 날 100+4(104대) 피아노 오케스트라 콘서트를 선보인다.

서남해안 도서지역 축제 문화인 ‘산다이’에서 영감을 얻은 자작곡 ‘아름다운 피아노 섬, 자은도’를 시작으로 바이엘, 찬송가, 클래식, 영화 OST, 대중가요를 재해석한 연주곡을 104명의 정상급 피아니스트와 협연한다.

카이스트에서 개발한 AI 피아노는 악보를 AI가 음원으로 인식해 스스로 피아노를 연주한다. 1800대 초반부터 1900년대 초반에 생산된 라이어 피아노, 그랜드 스퀘어 전시를 비롯해 세바스찬 에라르 피아노 연주도 직접 들을 수 있다.
