김성 장흥군수는 환영사를 통해 “한강 작가가 지난달 10일 한국인 첫 노벨문학상 수상자로 선정돼 문화예술관광을 군정 발전 동력으로 삼고 있는 장흥에 기회가 찾아왔다”며 “한승원 문학산책길을 부녀산책길로 조성하기 위해 필요한 예산 15억 원과 한승원·이승우·송기숙 작가 생가 복원 및 편의시설 조성을 위한 예산 15억 원을 지원해 달라”고 건의했다.

이에 대해 김영록 지사는 “장흥군이 2008년 전국 유일 문학관광 기행특구로 지정된 데 이어, 케이-문학 대표도시로 자리매김하도록 작가 생가 복원 사업 등을 지원하겠다”고 답했다.

이어 “서울 일극체제로 가장 큰 지역 소멸 위기에 처한 전남도는 지방소멸 위기 극복을 위해 ‘전라남특별자치도’를 비롯해 전남 출생수당 지급, 청년 만원 주택 등을 추진하고 있다”며 “역사적 대전환의 시대에 장흥군이 전남도와 함께 해주길 바란다”고 당부했다.
