(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남도는 22일 C형간염에 대한 대중 인식을 높이고 바이러스 간염 예방·관리를 강화하기 위해 2024 전남도 C형간염 포럼(사진)을 개최했다.

행사에는 질병청 호남권질병관리센터의 윤정환 센터장과 인혜경·이용준 과장, 신민호 전남도감염병지원단장, 강상민 ㈜바이엘티 대표, 윤재현 전남대학교병원 교수 등 100여 명이 참석했다.

포럼에서는 전국 C형간염 감염 현황을 공유하고, 예방과 조기 진단의 중요성을 강조했다. 특히 전남도가 2023년부터 추진하는 C형간염 퇴치사업 결과를 발표하고 그 성과와 개선점을 점검했다.

전문가 패널 토의에선 감염병 관리전문가들이 C형간염 예방과 퇴치 전략을 논의하고, 지역사회에서 실행 중인 예방 프로그램의 실효성과 향후 개선 방향에 대한 의견을 나눴다.

C형간염은 혈액으로 전파되는 전염성질환이다. C형간염 바이러스에 감염되면 50~80%가 만성으로 진행돼 만성간염, 간경변증, 간암 등의 원인이 되며, 간암 원인 질환 중 15%를 차지한다.

전남도는 2023년 전국 최초로 6개 군을 선정해 ‘C형간염 퇴치 시범사업’을 추진했다. 지금까지 2만 6천여 명의 항체 검사를 실시, 31명의 환자를 조기 발견해 치료·지원하는 성과를 거뒀다.

또한 2023년 시범사업 기간 다국적 제약회사인 길리어드사이언스코리아에서 1억 7천만 원(18명분) 상당의 치료제를 기부해 저소득층 환자의 C형간염 치료에 기여했다.

이번 포럼을 통해 전남도는 C형간염 예방·관리 정책적 노력을 더욱 강화하고, 지역사회의 감염병 관리를 위한 활동을 확대할 방침이다.

이상심 전남도 보건복지국장은 포럼에서 “C형간염은 초기에 증상이 나타나지 않지만 조기 발견과 예방이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “도민 건강을 지키기 위해 앞으로도 체계적 관리와 예방 대책을 마련해 추진할 계획”이라고 말했다.

전남지역 C형간염 발병률은 2022년 현재 인구 10만 명당 29.4명이다. 전국 평균(전국 16.1)의 1.8배로, 부산(34.2명)에 이어 전국에서 두 번째로 높다.
