(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 광주시가 자립준비청년(보호종료아동)을 위해 구축한 사회적 지지체계가 또 한번의 결실을 맺었다.

광주시는 한전KPS㈜가 시에서 추천한 지역 자립준비청년 5명 전원을 체험형 인턴으로 채용한다고 31일 밝혔다. 지난 2월 한전KDN㈜이 5명을 체험형 인턴으로 채용한데 이어 두 번째 성과이다.

이들은 6월 1일부터 3개월간 전남 나주시에 위치한 한전KPS㈜ 본사 계약총괄부 등 5개 부서에서 근무하게 된다.

광주시는 지난해 9월 자립준비청년(보호종료아동)의 자립을 돕기 위한 사회적지지체계를 구축하기 위해 산하기관·공기업·시민사회단체 등 10개 기관과 협약을 맺었다. 이 가운데 한전KPS㈜와 한전KDN㈜이 ‘체험형 인턴 채용’을 약속했고, 올해 협약을 이행했다.

이에 따라 광주시가 자립준비청년을 위해 그동안 구축해온 사회적 지지체계가 더욱 힘을 얻게 됐다.

시는 자립준비청년 지원을 위해 올해 예산 60억원을 확보, 성장·자립·동행의 3가지 방향에 맞춰 ‘2023년도 자립준비청년 지원계획’(3대 분야 14개 과제)을 수립해 지원하고 있다.

자립준비청년의 자립을 돕기 위해 지난해 6월 설치한 ‘광주자립지원전담기관’의인력을 기존 7명에서 12명으로 늘리고,자립교육과 심리치료 지원, 핫라인 상담창구 개설, 취업정보 등 맞춤형 플랫폼 구축, 취업 교육 및 대학교재비 지원, 바람개비 서포터즈 멘토링 지원 등 사업을 적극 추진하고 있다.

특히 자립지원전담기관이 문을 연 이후 지역사회의 관심도 지속적으로 높아졌다. 어린이재단 광주지역본부와 월드비전 광주전남본부, 광주사회복지공동모금회, 광주사회복지협의회, 광주변호사협회, 한국자산관리공사광주본부, 대한적십자사 광주본부 등 11개 기관에서 총 5억여원의 현금과 현물을 지원했다.

광주시는 자립준비청년에 대한 지속적이고 유기적인 지원과 서비스 발굴을 위해6월부터 자립지원협의체를 운영해 나갈 계획이다.

또, 한전KPS㈜를 비롯해 지난해 9월 함께 협약을 맺은 10개 유관기관과 주기적인 연대와 소통을 통해 자립준비청년에 대한 더 많은 사회적 관심과 지원을 이끌어낼 계획이다.
