올 들어 6일 현재까지 전남지역에서 27건의 산불이 발생해 55㏊의 산림이 피해를 입었다. 이는 지난해 같은 기간보다 10건이 늘어난 규모다. 특히 산불 발생 원인은 논밭두렁 소각 7건, 쓰레기 소각 6건, 입산자 실화 3건 등 대부분 주민 부주의에 따른 것으로 분석됐다.

이에 따라 김영록 지사는 이날 전남도산불방지대책본부를 중심으로 한 24시간 비상체제를 유지하고 도청 공무원 시군 전담제 실시, 의용소방대와 자율방범대 등을 총동원해 산불 감시요원 집중 배치 등 예찰 및 계도 활동을 좀 더 적극적으로 실시할 것을 강력히 당부했다.
