강기정 광주시장은 23일 시청 브리핑룸에서 이같은 내용의 ‘민선 8기 광주시 공공기관 구조혁신안’을 발표했다.

이번 공공기관 구조혁신은 경영효율성 제고와 시민에 대한 책임성 강화에 방점을 두고, ▲유사·중복 기능 조정 및 민간 경합사업 정비 ▲기능중심 조직 통합 및 기능 강화 ▲통합에 따른 고용보장 등 3대 기본원칙에 따라 추진됐다.

구조혁신 원칙에 따라 8개 공공기관이 4개 기관으로 통합되고, 3개 기관은 기능이 확대된다. 이로써 광주시 공공기관은 기존 24개에서 20개로 감축된다.

통합기관은 ▲광주관광공사(관광재단+김대중센터) ▲광주테크노파크(광주테크노파크+과학기술진흥원) ▲광주사회복지서비스원(사회서비스원+복지연구원) ▲광주상생일자리경제재단(상생일자리재단+경제고용진흥원)이다.

광주관광공사는 광주 관광전략과 관광산업에 대한 기획력을 강화하고, 마이스산업 전·후방 선순환 생태계 구축을 위해 관광재단과 김대중센터를 통합해 탄생한다.

광주테크노파크는 과학기술과 산업 플랫폼을 일원화해 기초연구에서부터 산업진흥까지 전주기 과학기술·산업융합 체계를 조성하고자 과학기술진흥원과 통합한다.
