(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 전남도가 레이저 분야 세계 최대 규모이자 호남권 유일의 국가 대형연구시설인 ‘초강력 레이저 연구시설’ 유치에 도정 역량을 쏟고 있는 가운데 국내 레이저계의 숙원인 전문 인력 확보를 위해 팔을 걷어붙였다.

전남도는 9일 도청에서 7개 대학교와 광학․레이저 산업계가 참여한 가운데 중장기 레이저 전문인력 확보를 위한 ‘레이저 전문인력 양성’ 업무협약을 했다.

협약식에는 김영록 전남도지사, 김기선 광주과학기술원 총장, 이장호 군산대 총장, 송하철 목포대 총장, 정성택 전남대 총장, 민영돈 조선대 총장, 윤의준 한국에너지공대 총장, 김종록 한동대 부총장, 김동근 한국광산업진흥회 상근부회장 등이 참석했다.

협약은 ▲레이저 교육과정 개설 및 전문인력 교류 ▲인력양성 협의체 구성 및 국가사업 공동 건의 ▲장비 및 연구정보 공동 활용 등 상호 협력기반을 마련하기 위한 것이다.

최근 국내 광학․레이저 산업계는 고급 숙련 인력 부족으로 해외 경쟁력이 저하돼 레이저 인력 양성을 위한 특단의 대책이 필요하다.

레이저는 반도체․우주항공․에너지 등 모든 첨단산업의 필수 요소기술임에도 불구하고, 레이저 관련 석․박사급 전문가를 양성하는 대학원은 전국 15개 정도로 배출 인력도 연간 70여 명에 불과하다.
