(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 전남도는 30일 한국관광공사와 공동으로 무안국제공항 국제선 입국장에서 방콕~무안국제공항 전세기 첫 입국 환영행사를 개최했다.

이번 전세기 입항은 지난 16일 김영록 전남도지사가 참석한 가운데 태국 방콕에서 열린 전남 관광설명회에서 체결한 ‘방콕-무안국제공항 인바운드 전세기 전남 여행상품 업무협약’에 따른 것이다.

3월 말까지 14회에 걸쳐 무안국제공항을 통해 2천400여 태국 관광객이 전남을 찾을 예정이다.

이날 환영행사에는 김영록 지사, 김산 무안군수, 김경연 무안군의회 의장, 이상태 한국관광공사 광주전남지사장 등이 참석한 가운데 관광객에게 꽃다발과 기념품을 선물하고 기념촬영을 하는 등 다양한 프로그램이 진행됐다.

김영록 지사는 인사말을 통해 “전남 방문을 환영한다”며 “섬, 바다 등 멋진 자연경관과 풍부한 역사․문화자원이 있는 대한민국 최고의 관광지인 전남에서 즐거운 추억을 많이 만들길 바란다”고 환영의 뜻을 밝혔다.

태국에선 무안국제공항을 통한 전세기 입국자뿐만 아니라 다른 지역 공항의 정기 항공편으로 1만여 명의 관광객 추가 방문이 예정돼 역대 최대 태국 관광객이 전남을 찾을 것으로 기대된다.

이번 전세기를 통한 첫 입국 관광객 174명은 목포 해상케이블카, 신안 퍼플섬, 담양 죽녹원 등 전남의 주요 관광지를 3박 4일간 둘러볼 예정이다.

전남도는 앞으로도 태국에 이어 베트남, 필리핀, 인도네시아 등 올해 3월부터 시행 예정인 무안국제공항 무사증 입국 대상 국가를 중심으로 동남아 관광객 유치를 확대할 방침이다. 무사증은 외국인에게 한 달간 비자 없이 국내에 체류하도록 하는 제도다.
