(목포=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 전남 목포시가 시민이 중심이 되는 목포만의 특색있는 문화도시 조성을 2023년에도 이어간다.

목포시는 올해 법정문화도시 지정 2년차를 맞았다. 문화도시는 지역별 고유한 문화자원을 활용해 문화 창조력을 강화할 수 있도록 지역문화진흥법에 따라 지정된다.

목포시는 2020년 예비문화도시 지정을 거쳐 2021년 법정 문화도시에 최종선정돼 2022년부터 5년간 198억원의 사업비로 문화도시를 조성해 나가고 있다.

전남에서는 유일하게 문화도시로 지정된 목포시는 ‘새로운 개항 문화항구도시 목포’라는 비전으로 시민들의 문화 참여 기회 증대 및 문화도시 브랜드 확산을 위한 사업을 추진해 왔다.

지난해에는 문화도시위원회, 문화도시자문위원회, 문화통장 등 전문성과 실행력을 높일 문화거버넌스를 구축하고 1차년도 사업을 진행했다.

국·도·시비 30억원을 투입해 문화갯물학교, 생활장인대학 등 지역 문화 인재 양성을 활성화하고, 꼼지락실험실 2개소 운영, 문화교류탐험대 등 시민들의 문화 참여와 향유 콘텐츠 개발에 힘썼다.

모두 22개 사업을 안정적으로 추진한 결과 지난 2월 문화체육관광부의 2022년 문화도시 조성사업 성과 평가에서 ‘우수도시’로 선정됐다.

문체부 우수도시 선정을 통해 보다 더 안정적으로 문화도시 사업을 추진할수 있게 된 목포시는 2023년 2년차 사업에서는 ‘도시를 잇다, 문화항구도시 목포’를 슬로건으로 내세웠다.

올해는 시민 거버넌스 구축을 더욱 확대하고 전남 서남권 지역의 교류 사업을 강화해 나갈 예정이다.

문화도시위원회는 목포시 문화도시 조성 및 지원조례에 따라 지난 2021년 출범한 문화도시 업무 추진 공식적 의사결정 기구다.
