Talk!

Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeonnam, Marks 12th Anniversary of Public Institution Relocation… ‘12th Bitgaram Festival’ Opens on the 9th Slogan: ‘Bitgaram for Everyone, One Excitement’… 9th–12th in the Bitgaram Innovation City area, Naju - ‘Bitgaram Festa Week’ to be held throughout the Innovation City… Diverse events including fireworks shows, EDM parties, academic activities, and hands-on experiences
(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = To mark the 12th anniversary of the relocation of public institutions, Gwangju Metropolitan City is organizing a grand festival where employees of relocated public institutions and local residents can mingle, communicate, and harmonize. Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will hold the ‘12th Bitgaram Festival’ from the 9th to the 12th in the Bitgaram Innovation City area of Naju. The most significant feature of this year's festival is its expansion into "Bitgaram Festa Week." Under the theme "Bitgaram for All, One Excitement," the event moves significantly away from the traditional format focused on spectator-oriented stage performances and instead features a diverse array of special lectures, hands-on experiences, and cultural programs across the entire Innovation City, with relocated public institutions taking the lead. On the 9th, the first day of the festival, the event kicks off with "Talk! Talk! Literature Energy Power Plant," a humanities-science convergence talk concert prepared in collaboration by the Arts Council Korea and the Korea Institute of Energy and Technology. Following this, on the 10th, programs combining knowledge and entertainment will take place throughout the venue, including the Korea Radio Promotion Agency's "Let's Play with Waves! Radio Wave Experience Hall" and a special lecture on "Empathy and Innovation" planned by the Korea Power Exchange. Starting on the 11th, as the weekend begins, full-scale cultural performances will continue, centered around a special stage at Bitgaram Lake Park. Starting at 4:00 PM on the 11th, the event will kick off with a magnificent performance by the Gwangju City Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble, followed by stages featuring the Naju City Children's Choir and employee clubs from relocated public institutions. After the opening ceremony at 7:00 PM, a performance by singer Jin-i-rang and an exciting Electronic Dance Music (EDM) party led by DJ DG are set to heat up the night in the Innovation City. On the final day, the 12th, performances will take place featuring an orchestra composed of employees and their families from relocated public institutions, the Jeonnam Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra, and participating residents of Bitgaram-dong. This will be followed by musical performances of diverse genres, including acoustic bands, popera, and electronic string instrument ensembles, as well as a celebratory stage by the soulful vocalist Woody. Finally, at 8:30 PM, a spectacular fireworks show will light up the night sky, marking the highlight of the festival. Permanent experience booths highlighting the unique characteristics of major relocated public institutions will also be in full operation throughout the event. Key public institutions, including Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), KEPCO KDN, Korea Power Exchange, Korea Agro-Fisheries Food Trade Corporation, Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), and Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, are participating in large numbers to present motorized and experiential programs that incorporate their respective expertise. In addition, facilities designed to maximize visitor convenience, such as the Jeonnam Provincial Library's mobile library and smart water fountains supported by the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) Naju Branch, are strategically placed throughout the festival grounds. A wide variety of customized spaces have also been prepared to revitalize the local economy and provide culinary enjoyment. A food zone featuring a total of seven food stalls and five food trucks will showcase a bountiful spread, while a flea market featuring 20 vendors, primarily local residents and small business owners, will sell local specialties and handmade products. An official from the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City stated, “This Bitgaram Festival, held to mark the 12th anniversary of the relocation of public institutions, is more than just a one-time event; it is a venue for exchange where relocated public institutions and local residents can envision a future of mutual prosperity together,” adding, “We hope that the employees, families, and local residents of the public institutions will all become the main characters and create unforgettable memories.”
