광주은행은 지난 6일 전북은행과 함께 한전 본사에서 ‘지역 상생 발전을 위한 협력 네트워크 구축’ 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 전남 신안과 전북 서남권 해상풍력 발전 사업의 성공적인 추진을 위해 마련됐다. 지방은행과 지역 대표 공공기관이 선제적으로 협력체계를 구축함으로써, 국가 핵심 사업인 신재생에너지 분야의 안정적인 금융 기반을 확보하고 지역 상생의 틀을 공고히 하겠다는 취지다.

광주은행은 이번 협약을 계기로 해상풍력 발전 사업에 대한 금융 지원을 대폭 확대할 방침이다. 특히 지난 58년간 지역 사회와 함께해 온 금융 네트워크를 활용해 지역 경제에 실질적인 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대된다.

정일선 광주은행장은 “지역의 미래 먹거리인 해상풍력 발전 사업을 통해 한전과 협력할 수 있는 뜻깊은 계기가 마련됐다”며, “광주·전남 통합특별시 출범을 앞둔 중요한 시점인 만큼, 양 기관이 긴밀히 협력해 지역 경제 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
